Our Tour of Capua was just excellent. Anna met us right on time and gave a a very thorough, relaxed, tour of the ruins in Capua. We heard lots of interesting stories of how the gladiators and the wild beasts were kept in the lower chambers and then how they were delivered to the arena. Pretty amazing stuff. After the tour of Capua, Anna took us to a museum of sorts and then to an underground area about 2 blocks away. I suspect the whole town has antiquities scattered throughout. Highly recommend.

Our family of five took a tour of Pompeii with Felicia, and she did a great job showing us the highlights without exhausting the children.

Felicia is a professional art restorer who grew up in the shadow of the ruins, so she was able to convey a lot of detail about the site that we might not have gotten from guidebooks, even down to interesting pieces of graffiti.

She handled our ten-year-old twins’ visit to the ancient brothel with grace. As it was their birthday, she even brought them a little gift, without forgetting their younger brother. That was a very nice touch.

Everyone should see Pompeii once in their lives, and if you’re going to do it, spring for a tour with an expert. You’ll learn more.

We opted for a private tour, just my husband and myself. I’m so glad we did! Our guide was Antonio and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He is friendly, knowledgable and could answer all of our questions. He gave us a great historical perspective of Pompeii and we learned so many things that we were not aware of. I had read other posted reviews which is why I picked this particular tour. I also had read many, many compliments referring to Antonio, imagine my delight when I found out Antonio was our guide. He did not disappoint!!!! Do NOT hesitate to book this tour especially if you are interested in the background of Pompeii and its people and want a tour catered to your particular interests. It was the best and Antonio was a delight!!!!

We did a private tour and our guide was Chiara. The tour we did was of Herculaneum – another city devastated like Pompeii from the volcano. Chiara is actually an archeologist and currently is part of the crew that continues to uncover more areas of Pompeii. Herculanum only a 1/5 of the city is seen as rest is buried under the town above. She knew so much and was able to answer our every question. Her English was fantastic and she was very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend a guided Tour with this company!!! 🙂 ask for Chiara.

Emiliano Tufano

I visited Pompeii a couple of years ago with a friend and we had Emiliano as our guide. So, this year when my husband and I were in the area, I contacted Emiliano again for a private tour for us. This time we had Sergio as our guide, and a driver, Cristian, who picked us up at our hotel in Positano. Both tours were fabulous. It is obvious that Emiliano trains his guides very well. Sergio was extremely knowledgable about Pompeii and Herculaneum, and was a delightful tour guide. Cristian and Sergio also included a lovely lunch with a wine tasting between touring the two cities (no they didn’t participate except to eat lunch!). Since we like various wines, it was fun to try a couple of local wines. I did not compare prices for other tours, but using a private tour guide, especially one as knowledgable and fun as Emiliano and Sergio, is well worth any extra cost. For one thing, you can go to the head of the line to get in, and the line when we were leaving was very long. I also think we benefited by going early in the morning before most of the crowds showed up. From Positano, it was about 8 hours door to door. On my first visit, my friend and I were picked up in Naples and had a bit more time to walk up Vesuvius which is fun if you have the time. Overall, I highly recommend Emiliano’s tours

We had a wonderful 2 hour tour of Herculaneum and a 3.5 hour tour of Oplontis, Boscoreale and Stabiae with Paolo. Both my husband and I have a real interest in the history and archaeology of the area. Paolo’s knowledge is vast and his guiding surpassed our expectations-including where to buy the best coffee in all of Napoli! My husband peppered him with questions as he had read a lot of background and also had previous knowledge from his own education; Paolo answered these questions and did so enthusiastically- his love for the subject was always apparent. It was great to be able to interact so freely with him. He is very personable. We wished that we had booked more time- ah well next time!
