All along the shores of the Canneto rivers the nature is unspoiled and preserve pre-glacial fossils and endemic species such as the fern Woodwaria radicans and the Salamandrina terdigitata.
The path is surrounded by Lattari Mounts and it is possible admire the summit of the highest peaks (Campanaro Mount, Rotondo Mount, Ciavano Mount and Cervignano Mount).
Amalfi has a glorious past as a Maritime Republic, few people know that thanks this valley the city attracted splendor and richness. In fact for its water sources in the valley were built several ironworks and paper mills.
Nowadays walking down the valley it is possible visit some of them but the paper mills best preserved is in the center of Amalfi city.
National Geographic has considered the valley as biodiversity reserve and one of the most beautiful paths in the world.
